ABOUT

At Nomi Atmosphere, we create lighting that is more than illumination—it is an experience. Our designs merge bent wood craftsmanship, handcrafted Washi paper, and advanced material techniques to shape light in a way that feels both organic and intentional.

Founded by architectural designers Gabriel Willard and Riku Suzuki, Nomi Atmosphere blends traditional artistry with contemporary innovation, using parametric design, digital fabrication, and hands-on experimentation to push the boundaries of what lighting can be.

Each piece is a study in form, texture, and diffusion, designed to enhance the spaces they inhabit. From sculptural statement pieces to practical, easy-to-pack designs, our work balances precision with imperfection, structure with fluidity, and light with shadow.

TEAM

Riku Suzuki
Co-Founder and Designer
Riku Suzuki is an architectural and computational designer, merging Washi innovation, woodworking, and digital fabrication to create lighting that is both organic and precise. By experimenting with fiber structures and material bonding, he transforms Washi into a self-supporting medium, diffusing light with depth and warmth. Believing that perfection comes through iteration, Riku’s work fuses Japanese craftsmanship with contemporary processes, shaping luminous forms that feel both timeless and forward-thinking.
Gabriel Willard
Co-Founder and Designer
Gabriel Willard is an architectural designer and wood craftsman specializing in bent wood techniques. With expertise in parametric modeling and material performance, he pushes wood to its limits—testing, refining, and allowing the material to reveal its final form. Guided by the philosophy that design is uncovered, not made, Gabriel’s lighting designs balance technical precision with natural intuition, shaping light and space with sculptural elegance.
